The vote for the Override will be held on August 4th. If it passes, the schools will get 3 million dollars, which will undeniably benefit both students and educators. With this override, Weymouth will be able to restore critical resources such as Science teachers at the primary school, adequate/additional technology and textbooks for the middle and high schools.
Here are some ways to help out:
1. Attend the Fundraiser on Wednesday, July 22nd from 7-9 p.m. at the Weymouth Eagles (1338 Washington St.).
2. Help spread the word! Put "Say Yes for Weymouth" signs on your lawn, help with "Stand Outs" in the mornings and/or afternoons, help distribute literature during the week of July 27th, or help on Election Day (August 4th). People can sign up and/or request a sign by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
3. Vote Yes on August 4th!
Please share this important information with your neighbors, colleagues and friends. Your active support can change the lines of hundreds of students and educators in Weymouth.
I am pleased to report that both the Unit B and D contracts were ratified this evening by the School Committee. I want to thank the members who attended tonight. Thank you for your investment in your Union.
There was an additional victory this evening. It was voted to include the language "domestic partner" as a member of your household for whom you can take bereavement leave. This language was put forth by all WEA Negotiating Teams and School Committee. The purpose of this is to develop language that is more inclusive and reflective of the times during which our contracts are negotiated.
