Dear Members,
If you had the opportunity to share your thoughts about education, what would say? What resonates with you? Now that you may (or may not) have answered those questions, the next question is, Where do you go to make your voice heard? Who will listen? We need to go to the individuals that can affect change state wide, Senator Hedlund, Representative Bradley, Representative DeCoste, Representative Cantwell, and Representative Murphy. The 2015-2016 MTA legislative agenda grows from a broad and deep vision that includes supporting the public schools that every child deserves, strengthening educators’ voices and protecting their right to speak, and safeguarding the well-being of children, educators, families and our communities. The issues we address in our agenda and the vision it rests upon will help to guide not only our legislative work but also our organizing efforts. Here is a brief look at our 2015-16 Legislative Agenda. After each item you will see the legislators in our area that have signed on to be a co-sponsor. Please come and meet with the legislators in our area to let them know why we need them to support this agenda. This is your chance to talk to them, tell them how things are going and to ask them to support us by helping to pass the issues on the legislative agenda. Meetings: Monday, March 23rd at 4:00 p.m. with Senator Hedlund at the Marshfield High School Library (167 Forest St. Marshfield) Thursday, March 26th at 3:45 p.m. with Representative Bradley at the Sons of Italy in Hingham (366 Main St. Hingham) Friday, March 27th – Representative DeCoste–Norwell High School (location tentative – awaiting confirmation) 4 p.m. Monday, March 30th at 4:00 p.m. with Representative Cantwell at the Marshfield High School (167 Forest St. Marshfield) Tuesday, March 31st – Representative Cutler – His Pembroke office on Washington St at 4 p.m. Representative Murphy-TBA It is not simply about your voice, it is about being physically present.
