Asst. superintendent meeting - support needed

4/16/2018

Dear Members,

On April 26th, the WEA will meet with Administration regarding the position and appointment of the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Support. Several members have volunteered to share their first hand experiences with Administration. These members are to be commended for their willingness to come forward in an attempt to right the wrong committed to them. If you would like to share your story, but have not done so at this time, please respond to this email. If you do not have a story to share, please attend to show support for those who have come forward. Your silent participation will speak volumes. It will shed light on a situation that needs to be rectified in order to heal the climate and morale of the Weymouth Public School system.

When: Thursday, April 26, 2018
Where: Weymouth High School Humanities Center
Time: 3:30-4:30- This does not preclude primary teachers from attending. Please plan to arrive around 3:45.
Who: All members of the Association, you are the Union.

Regards,
Ydana Chella

wea unit a survey

12/19/2017

Dear Unit A Members,
In order to provide a framework for the upcoming Unit A negotiations, the Unit A Negotiation Team needs your input. Below is a link for a brief survey. The results of this survey will be used to determine the most important needs/wants of Unit A members. We will use this to build a proposal for our upcoming negotiations.
The survey will remain open until January 3, 2107. Your voice matters. Your thoughts, comments and questions allow us to draft a proposal that will be meaningful to the membership. Please be aware, this survey will not be our sole means of gathering input from the membership. More details will follow after the survey is closed.

MTA and WEA events

11/16/2017

Good Morning Fellow WEA members,

We have two very important MTA events that all WEA members are encouraged to attend:

1.  Movie Night at the Marshfield High School Auditorium on Tuesday, November 21st at 7:00 p.m.  The MTA will be showing the movie "Backpack Full of Cash" featuring Matt Damon.  All MTA members on the South Shore are invited to the Movie Night, so we're having a meet and greet session at6:00 p.m. before the movie--pizza will be served.  Please send me an email at lynnphoward82@comcast.net to rsvp if you will be attending so we can make sure we have enough pizza.  Please feel free to invite non-MTA members to the Movie Night (a flyer is attached that you may print out and/or email to friends and family).

2.  We will be having a meeting with our South Shore legislators on Wednesday, November 29th at 4 pm at Marshfield High School. We will be reviewing and discussing the Senate 308 bill which is the all-inclusive bill covering the MTA agenda. It is important that we pack the room with MTA members so that our legislators hear from us and realize how important it is that they support this bill.

From the MTA website, this is a summary of what the bill stands for:
  • This bill helps students in all public schools in Massachusetts.
  • This bill implements the recommendations of the Foundation Budget Review Commission.
  • This bill requires Massachusetts to rethink its high-stakes testing regime.
  • This bill promotes child development.
  • This bill promotes community support and involvement in school improvement efforts.
  • This bill promotes workplace fairness.
For specifics, to to the MTA website for further information.

I hope to see you at one or both of the events!

Sincerely,
Lynn Howard
